About the startup parameters and usage categories

You can change the default startup parameters by using startup parameters on a command line or by incorporating them into a .BAT file or a UNIX script file. You also can use an OpenEdge parameter file, which can include any number of startup parameters. See Chapter 1 "Introduction" for information on the parameter file.

In this chapter, the startup parameters are organized into usage categories. Some parameters might be listed in multiple categories. Unless noted otherwise, the syntax of the parameters is the same for UNIX and Windows. Table 3–1 defines the startup parameter usage categories.
